Beautiful Lake District

In July we decided to take a trip to a beautiful place called the Lake District.
Our first stop was Iron Bridge Gorge. Here we got to see the birthplace of industry
and the worlds's first cast iron bridge. It was built in 1979.

Our second stop was the Preston England Temple. The Temple grounds were amazingly beautiful. We had a wonderful time walking around feeling the special spirit that was there.

On our second day the boys went golfing, we rode on a historic railroad and went for a hike. The view was amazing. We loved the public footpaths that would wind all through the town and all the rock walls that were made by hand hundreds of years ago.

On the next day was drove to a lake called Derwentwater. This was near a town pleasant town called Keswick. Here were took a boat ride across the lake and hiked up to a peak along the shore. What a beautiful view. Everything was so green and fresh. We also walked around the lake in the rain. It was great to see the kids determination to get to the top and stay strong on the 9 mile walk.

The next day we went on a scenic drive through the heart of the Lake District. It was misty and rainy, but it only added to the beauty. We drove up the steep narrow one lane roads and saw tons of waterfalls and sheep.

We stayed in a cute cottage called Cragg's cottage. It was a cozy place where we enjoyed returning each night. (Jarom discovered out that an accomplished author once lived there.) We had a great time playing board games, reading Shurlock Holmes, and sipping hot chocolate by a fire. What a great way to create some real wonderful memories.
